Ranking the SEC Stadiums

The Stadiums

We have come up with several categories and descriptions that we are using in our ranking system. Click on the different links to connect to more info about the ranking system itself or short videos on our thoughts for each stadium as we post them.

What are we looking at. First we are having fun. We are football fans. We are also doing things before and after the games that we enjoy. We have been having a great time interviewing people and have the coolest story about one of our Texas interviews. So far we have been mostly a neutral party at each stadium. We will admit that as Texas Aggies we didn’t wear Texas gear to their stadium and it is the only game we weren’t rooting for the SEC. For more on how we choose who we root for click here.

Going forward we will sometimes be Texas Aggies more than we are stadium observers but we will try to be as neutral as we can. We also know that time of year, time of game, and who the opponent is can play a factor in the atmosphere of a game. The goal is kickoff to 0 on the clock at each game. We have already broken this as we left the Texas blowout of Colorado State with under 3 min left when all the Longhorns were leaving. They lost some points for leaving early but it was really hot so we didn’t dock them to much.

We need to also say up front, we aren’t big drinkers so if your cities’ pre/post game life is nothing but drinking we aren’t going to be pumped about it, but we get that it is also a huge part of the culture and would notice and dock points if no parting was available.

The biggest thing for us is student involvement from the stands and the student lead groups. On the negative side loud obnoxious scoreboard screens can cost the stadium points. When it comes to traditions, music, random whatever your stadium does we are somewhat judging the thing itself but not as much as how it adds to the game, is unique to the stadium, and gets the crowd involved.
